Founded by young competitive dancer Marlo Quinn Gorman, Marlo Moves is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families overcome the financial barriers that prevent children from participating in the sport they love.

For young dancers, the studio is more than a place to learn choreography. It's where confidence grows, friendships form, discipline takes root, and dreams begin to feel possible.
But for many families, the rising costs of dance training, costumes, competitions, and travel can place those dreams out of reach.
Marlo Moves exists to change that.
Through need-based scholarships, community partnerships, and charitable giving, we help make dance more accessible to young people across the country.
Because talent is everywhere. Opportunity should be, too.
Marlo Moves provides need-based financial assistance to help qualifying young dancers continue their training and participation.
Financial assistance toward eligible studio tuition and instructional programs, helping dancers continue to learn, grow, and develop their skills.
Support toward qualifying competition registration fees, costumes, and other essential participation expenses.
Financial or in-kind support for eligible travel and lodging expenses associated with dance competitions and educational opportunities.
Access to essential dancewear, shoes, costumes, and equipment through donated merchandise, partnerships, and available scholarship funding.
Marlo Moves is designed to support young dancers whose families demonstrate financial need and who are committed to participating in dance. We welcome interest from families and dance studios across the United States.
Scholarship availability, eligibility requirements, award amounts, and application deadlines will be announced as funding and program capacity permit.
A scholarship can mean more than financial assistance. It can mean another season with a dance team. Another opportunity to perform. Another year of learning, growing, and building confidence.
For a family facing difficult financial decisions, it can mean the difference between continuing and walking away. Every contribution helps Marlo Moves work toward making dance more accessible.

For Marlo Quinn Gorman, dance has always been part of life.
Growing up around Nest, a family enrichment center and dance studio founded by her parents, Matt and Raina Gorman, Marlo discovered the joy of movement at an early age. What began as childhood dance classes gradually became something much more meaningful.
As she explored ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, and other forms of dance, Marlo found a passion that challenged her, inspired her, and helped shape the person she was becoming.
Dance taught her far more than steps and routines. It taught her perseverance when something felt impossible, discipline when progress came slowly, teamwork when success depended on others, and confidence when it was time to step onto the stage.
Eventually, that passion led Marlo into the world of competitive dance. With competitive dance came longer hours, greater commitment, travel, performances, and expenses. Marlo was fortunate to have parents who could provide the financial support, transportation, and encouragement necessary to pursue her goals.
But as her experience in dance grew, so did her awareness that not every child had the same opportunity.
She saw how much families sacrifice to keep their children dancing. She recognized that tuition, costumes, competition fees, and travel expenses can add up quickly. And she began to understand that some young dancers must make the heartbreaking decision to leave the studio, not because they lack talent, dedication, or passion, but because their families simply cannot afford to continue.
That realization became the inspiration for Marlo Moves. Rather than accepting financial barriers as an unavoidable part of competitive dance, Marlo wanted to do something about them. She created Marlo Moves to help give other children the opportunity she had been fortunate enough to receive.
What began as one dancer's desire to help others is becoming a mission to make the dance community more inclusive, supportive, and accessible. Marlo believes that every child who loves to dance deserves the chance to discover where that passion might take them.
And sometimes, all it takes to keep a dream alive is someone willing to help.
The mission of Marlo Moves is to help children and families overcome the financial obstacles associated with recreational and competitive dance.
We provide financial assistance to qualifying families to help cover expenses such as dance tuition, costumes, competition fees, travel, and essential dance apparel.
Our goal is simple: No child should have to give up dancing solely because their family cannot afford the cost.
Dance gives children an opportunity to express themselves, discover their strengths, and develop confidence that extends far beyond the stage.
Commitment, discipline, teamwork, resilience, and responsibility are lessons that dancers carry into school, relationships, and adulthood.
A family's financial circumstances should not be the deciding factor in whether a child can pursue a meaningful passion.
When individuals, dance studios, businesses, and families come together, even modest contributions can create lasting opportunities.
For many children, dance begins with a single class.
But as their skills and interests develop, participation can become increasingly expensive, particularly for dancers pursuing competitive programs.
For families managing everyday household expenses, these costs can become overwhelming.
Sometimes the financial challenge is temporary: a job loss, an unexpected medical expense, or a change in family circumstances. Other times, the cost of participation simply exceeds what a household can reasonably afford.
Whatever the circumstances, the result can be the same: a child who loves to dance is forced to step away.
Marlo Moves believes that financial hardship should not be the end of a dancer's story.
By helping families cover eligible expenses, we aim to keep children engaged in the activities they love and connected to the communities that support them.
Every dancer has a unique journey. Some are just beginning to discover their love of movement. Others have spent years training, competing, and pursuing their goals.
For families facing financial hardship, the ability to continue dancing can make an enormous difference.
Through our scholarship program, we hope to share the stories of dancers whose determination, resilience, and passion remind us why this mission matters.
Here, we'll celebrate scholarship recipients, share their experiences, and recognize the studios, families, and donors who help make their participation possible. Each story will highlight not only the financial support provided, but also the personal impact of being able to continue dancing.
More stories coming soon.
Scholarship recipient stories and photographs will be shared with appropriate family permission.
